Center for Sustainable Energy and Clean Power Research share best practices and practical solutions for engaging communities and efficiently implementing Solar for All programs
SAN DIEGO (April 30, 2024) – Center for Sustainable Energy® and Clean Power Research® have teamed up to help states, cities, territories, tribal nations and nonprofits awarded federal Solar for All grants quickly deliver the benefits of solar energy to low-income and disadvantaged communities.
The $7 billion Solar for All program, whose recipients were announced on Earth Day, will enable more than 900,000 households across the U.S. to benefit from locally produced residential solar electricity.
To support grant awardees in efficiently designing and launching programs, the two organizations have published a handbook, called the Solar for All Playbook, with guidance and best practices for launching a successful solar equity program. The playbook’s 12 key elements are based on the organizations’ 50 years of combined experience designing, administering and creating software for large-scale solar programs nationwide.
By taking advantage of the expertise of the national nonprofit Center for Sustainable Energy, a leader in solar equity program administration, and industry-leading PowerClerk® workflow automation solutions from Clean Power Research, recipients of Solar for All grants can quickly engage communities and design, build and execute efficient funding programs.
“Programs to equitably expand access to solar energy need to put community members at the center from the start and base decisions on solid data,” said Karen Glitman, senior director of distributed energy resources at the Center for Sustainable Energy. “It’s also critical to collect, analyze and share program data to continually make improvements and provide transparency to all stakeholders.”
