PG&E Pre-Owned EV Rebate

The Center for Sustainable Energy (CSE) administers the Pacific Gas and Electric Company Pre-Owned Electric Vehicle program that provides customers rebates for purchasing or leasing a used EV.

The program offers all qualifying electric service customers two levels of incentives, a $1,000 standard rebate or a Rebate Plus option of $4,000 for applicants who meet specific income-based requirements.

As administrator, CSE processes applications, issues rebate checks and reports on program statistics. CSE also conducts marketing and outreach to increase program participation, working with used car dealers to educate sales staff and with community-based organizations to educate their constituents on rebates and EV benefits.

CSE also administers PG&E’s Residential Charging Solutions program that provides customers who meet income eligibility and other requirements a $700 rebate to purchase a Level 2 in-home EV charger.

The rebates are funded by PG&E’s participation in California’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, which encourages utility customers to reduce transportation-related greenhouse gas emissions by adopting cleaner fuels, like electricity.
